    It all makes sense if you think about it—how I ended up being a financial planner, that is.

    I grew up in Waterford, Connecticut, the son of a truck driver and office worker. Money was tight, but so was the family. One Christmas in the mid-1950s, the family got together and made more than 500 wreaths.

    Grandpa sold them from his front yard, and the rest of the family (mom, dad, sister Janice, and Aunt Barbara) hauled greens out of the woods and made the wreaths. My specialty was scurrying up the pine trees to get the pine cones that became the finishing touch on each wreath. An activity born out of necessity (we needed the money) turned into a family bonding experience, not to mention it generated enough money for a very nice Christmas.

    In 1969, I graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in electrical engineering. After working as an electrical engineer for almost 30 years, I finally decided to get serious about my family’s finances. I enrolled in a financial planning program at Boston University in the mid-1990s, originally because I wanted to build a stronger financial future for my wife, Sharon, and my three sons, Rich, Russell, and Tom.

    In January 1998, I left engineering and became a financial planner. My passion for helping my own family achieve financial stability was contagious, and I wanted to help others. I was able to team up with Stan and some other great role models, and we’ve built amazing relationships along the way.

    I have more than 25 years of experience in the financial services field. I started my career at State Street Bank as a mutual fund accountant and then as a manager, where I performed mutual fund pricing and reporting and worked with the foreign exchange and options markets.

    I launched my financial planning practice in 1994, earning my CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professional certification in 1996. I enjoy constructing investment portfolios designed to help clients pursue their financial goals. My financial planning practice focuses on retirement and education planning (both accumulation and distribution), income tax planning, risk management, and estate tax planning.

    I attended Bentley University and Salem State College, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in finance.

    I grew up in Great Neck, New York. From a young age, I always knew that I wanted to be in a service industry helping others. At the age of 12, my father told me to read the Wall Street Journal and find something that interested me. I quickly realized that I wanted to invest in something that was familiar to me, so I invested in IBM, Heinz, and Snapple. Through these early investments, I learned how to track the market and how to build wealth.

    Once I graduated from high school, I moved to Boston to pursue a degree in finance and insurance from Northeastern University. While in college, I worked on the floor of the Boston Stock Exchange, assisting traders. I’ve also worked for one of the largest private investment firms in the United States.

    I graduated with honors from Northeastern University with a bachelor’s degree in finance and insurance. As the son of two teachers, I’ve found my calling in educating others in finance and working tirelessly to help clients achieve their goals. I have the heart of a social worker with the mind of a capitalist.

    I was born in Boston and grew up in Brookline with my younger sister until our parents decided to buy a home in Newton Highlands.

    There was always open discussion about money because the situation required it, and we developed the belief that hard work mattered. One fond memory is shoveling snow and coming home after a winter storm having earned a few dollars. I saved and eventually bought my first big item, a GE black-and-white TV in an orange plastic case, which cost $84. Why is this important? Because it set the tone for a life of hard work, self-reliance, and sensitivity about the differences between people.

    After receiving my bachelor’s degree in economics from UMass Amherst and taking a couple of trips to Europe with a backpack, I decided to apply for work in the largest garden center and greenhouse operation in the area. By age 25, I was chosen to open, staff, and manage a brand-new garden center in Morristown, New Jersey. I had hair, a dog, and was doing what I loved. Two years later, I transitioned into managing a growing clothing chain.

    In 1994, I passed the CFP® exam and began working with a successful local financial planning firm. After almost 10 years and deciding to seek total independence, we decided to open our own practice creating comprehensive financial plans, and Wells Financial Partners was born. The last 15 years have been very rewarding.

    I am proud to have been recognized as a Summit Club advisor for 2019—a distinction based on annual production that places me among the top 19 percent of advisors affiliated with Commonwealth Financial Network®.

    I grew up in southern New Hampshire and have lived in New England all my life.

    However, I have a lot of family in Toronto, and I would often take trips up there to visit them and still do to this day. When I was younger, I would spend summers in Toronto. This showed me a city that was very multicultural. While every person comes from a different background, ultimately, everyone has similar dreams and goals. After graduating from an honors program from Southern New Hampshire University, I volunteered as part of a group of students to visit Beijing during the 2008 Olympics. This was a great experience to explore an entirely different culture and to enjoy the Olympic atmosphere.

    I started my financial career at Lincoln Financial during the market downturn in 2008. I was fortunate enough to land a position in client service and trading operations while I obtained many of my industry registrations. Next, I joined Commonwealth Financial Network® and worked in their compliance department, conducting audits of independent financial advisors around the country. I earned my CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER certification in 2014.

    I joined Wells Financial Partners in 2016 to assist clients in building financial plans to achieve their dreams and goals.

    In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, especially traveling and visiting local eateries. I play pick-up basketball whenever I can get in a game. I started playing golf in 2016 when a good friend suggested it and have been hooked since. My game has steadily improved over time, and I now consider myself an avid golfer.     Even though both my parents were from the Boston area, I was born in a suburb of Chicago. When I was five, my Mom said she missed Scituate terribly, and we returned home.

    Two weeks after graduating from college, I began working at Putnam Investments as a shareholder services representative.

    A few months into my tenure, I earned my FINRA Series 6 and 63 securities registrations. I loved working in downtown Boston and taking advantage of all that it had to offer.

    During this time, I met and married my husband, Dave, a native Nebraskan, making my life more complete. After renting for six years we bought our first home. Such an exciting time because shortly after, we were blessed with an addition to our family! Our beautiful son Alex was born in 2000.

    Around his second birthday, Alex was diagnosed with Autism. I made the decision to leave Putnam to be with Alex at the critical juncture when he transitioned from early intervention services to a therapeutic preschool.

    A few years after leaving Putnam, I decided to look for a part-time position in the financial services industry. A job listing for Wells Financial Partners seemed promising as they were looking for someone with financial services experience. I like to say they met my needs, and I met theirs – I can say this with a fair amount of confidence because 12 years and counting, here I am!

    In my free time, I enjoy puzzles and board games of all kinds (I come from a long line of avid puzzle doers and game players), playing tennis, relaxing on my favorite Scituate beach, hunting for sea glass, going to concerts, listening to my husband strum his guitar and sing duets with my son, doing Zumba, and most of all, spending time with my dear family and friends.

    With more than 25 years of experience, my entire career has been focused on client service and relationship management. I enjoy problem-solving and working with clients to satisfy their operational needs. As the firm's senior client service liaison, I look forward to talking with clients and helping them in any way I can.

    I really haven’t ended up far from where I grew up. Starting off in Sherborn, I ended up in Hopkinton, by way of Nantucket and Naples, Florida. The youngest of five kids and an avid beach and animal lover, it’s no surprise that I lived for many years in beach locations and also owned and operated my own pet supply store that I started from the ground up in 2006.

    Fast forward to 2017, I sold the store, and after a short (but well-deserved) break, I was restless. I had been pet sitting since 1998 and still do, but I wanted to be part of a community of people again. I love the dogs to pieces, but there’s only so much dog talk one can survive on.

    I’ve always enjoyed people as well as working, so when the email went out from Wells Financial Partners about a part-time job, I threw my hat in the ring, and here I am. It doesn’t hurt that Stan and I worked together 19 years ago. When I’m not at the office, I’m usually doing something dog-related like pet sitting, working on my line of dog-themed products, or writing another chapter of my book chronicling my pet-sitting adventures.

    I’m looking forward to utilizing some of the skills I sharpened from my years of being a small business owner. Every year I coordinated a fundraiser for the local dog shelters, collaborating with my many vendors as well as the local businesses I had developed relationships with over the years.
